To be able to spell correctly is an essential life skill. When spelling becomes automatic, pupils are able to concentrate on the content of their writing and the making of meaning. Whilst we note that spelling is not the most important aspect of writing, confidence in spelling can have a profound effect on the writer’s self-image. Here at Tackley CE we aim to encourage children to experiment with exciting vocabulary within their writing without the fear of spelling it wrong. We encourage the use of dictionaries and thesauruses to support the children with their spelling development.
With a weekly/fortnightly spelling focus, using the Read, Write, Inc. Phonics and spelling scheme, we aim to support all abilities to progress and develop as confident spellers.
Below you will find our Tackley Spelling Guide for Parents. It includes hints and tips on how to support your child with learning their spellings at home, whilst giving details on the spelling curriculum.
