Oxford Castle –

As linked to our topic to this term, we went on a trip to Oxford Castle. Here were able to find out more about what it was like to live in a castle hundreds of years ago. We smelt some smells from the time and many of us found them not to be very pleasant! We also spent some time drawing artefacts and dressing up as Kings and Queens. A highlight for us all was going on a tour of the castle where we climbed the tower all the way to the very top!

Year 2 Ultra Olympics –

Our Year 2’s were lucky enough to visit the Marlborough this week to get involved in a local primary school Olympics! We participated in events such as;

Relay races

Story of the week –

At the end of every day, we are taking the time to read a story and the book we are reading this week, is – The Tiger Who Came To Tea!

Plant Detectives

We are exploring plants this Summer term in our science lessons and we have already begun being excellent plant detectives! We love being outside discovering the beautiful plants and trees we have around us.

Creepy Crawly Visitors!

Linking to our science topic about animals, as well as our class topic ‘around the world in 60 days’, we had some visitors. These visitors were snakes, spiders, stick insects, tortoises and many more.

World Book Day

We had such an enjoyable day – we wrote stories, we designed bookmarks, we decorated two doors in the theme of a book (Meerkat Mail and Fox in Socks) and we even had a teacher swap where Miss Murphy went to read in Rousham class and Miss Rawson came and read to us!

Year One visit to the Marlborough

We had a fantastic afternoon at the Marlborough, learning a ‘Polar Express’ dance routine. We learnt dance moves, such as building snowmen, skiing and riding on a train. We listened very carefully as we learnt the routines and had a fabulous time which has already got us in the Christmas spirit!

Children In Need PJ day!

As voted for by the school council, today we wore our PJs to school to raise money for Children in Need. The children (and teachers!) spent the day dressed up in a colourful array of PJs- with everyone staying awake for the whole day. In the afternoon, we attended the ‘Tackley Cinema’ as part of our fundraising challenge. The whole school has raised over £300! Well done everyone!

Our class trip to Oxford Airport!

We went to the Oxford airport as part of our topic, ‘Come fly with me.’ Here, we were able to see planes, helicopters and fire engines. We even went inside the helicopters and fire engines and we tried on the helmets! We were lucky enough to meet real life pilots and fire fighters too!

We learnt what is inside the modes of transport and how to be safe at an airport.

Here we are having fun…

Real ‘stick men!’

Here, we are using nature as a medium for our art work. We went outside to collect some suitable leaves and sticks – we had to put our coats on as it was really cold! We watched Miss Holliday how to make a stick man and then we made our own. Take a look….

We LOVE drama in Nethercote Class!

Here, we are acting out our own plays. We were told the beginning of a story and then it was up to us to finish it! The story happened to have a BIG problem and we decided how the problem should be solved. Here we are with our incredible acting skills!

Click on the word ‘giggling’and you will be able to see us having a fun time watching our plays!

Pumpkin Soup!

In our DT lesson, we made our own ‘Pumpkin Soup’ and it was SOUP-ER!!

We were discussing verbs to understand instructions and we were using adjectives to describe the soup we were making. img_2746

We had a lot of fun, but we understood that we needed to be careful as heat was involved. There were a lot of hungry tummies!
