Welcome back! I hope that you have all had a really lovely summer break and are looking forward to another action packed year at Tackley C of E Primary School.
This term our class topic is ‘The Empire Strikes Back!’ which will be about the Romans. As a class we will be doing lots of research in school together, but any extra information or resources the children may have at home are always welcome. A topic web is available on the school website for information about all subject areas covered this term. Please remember to check out the website for class information and updates.
Homework will be sent home on a Friday and should be completed and returned by the following Wednesday. Children will continue to receive spellings each week; children will learn spellings throughout the week in school, bring home a list on a Friday and be tested on the following Friday. Although children will have spent time working on these spellings during the week it is important that they have time to reinforce any words that they may find tricky at home.
Children will be tested every Monday on their times tables and will be reminded each week which times tables they should be focusing on.
Please encourage your child to read to you at least 4 to 5 times a week and keep a record in their reading logs so that we can see how well they are doing. If you would like ideas of great books to read there is the list of ‘100 books to read before you leave Tackley’, which can be seen on our school website.
This term P.E. will be with Club Energy on a Wednesday afternoon and swimming will be on a Tuesday morning for the second half of the term. Please ensure your child has the appropriate kit for each lesson, it is particularly important that your child has warm clothes and trainers for outdoor PE lessons at this time of year as we do go out in all weathers.
Lastly, I would just like to remind you that I am available most days after school if you have anything you would like to discuss with me about your child.
I wish you all the best for the year ahead.
