Autumn Term
Details of what we will be covering in each area of the curriculum can be found in the curriculum map (see below).
Our class novel is The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Rauf. Children are welcome to bring in any personal copies but please don’t read ahead at home!
Homework
It is an expectation that children are read with regularly at home (both reading themselves and being read to). Please record reading in children’s reading diaries, if children record at least four reads a week at home they will receive a star for their star charts. Children should bring their diaries into school on Fridays for me to check and sign.
Children should also use Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) four times a week to work on their times tables. Log-ins for TTRS and Deepening Understanding are in reading diaries.
This year we are using the online platforms Spelling Shed and Maths Shed. Children will be set a weekly activity on each on Fridays that will be to consolidate the learning they have done in school that week. The platforms can be accessed on any device, including phones. Children have their login details in the reading diaries. Feedback will be given to children verbally in school and all those that complete the task will be rewarded with 20 house points and a star for their charts.
PE
PE will continue to be on Mondays and Wednesdays when children must come to school wearing their PE kit which includes a t-shirt in their house colour.
Forest School
There is no Forest School this term due to swimming, it will begin after Christmas.
Swimming
Swimming is on Tuesdays this term and will run until Christmas. No spray deodorants please!
