All children and staff at Tackley are allocated a house for their time at our school. The house names were chosen by members of the school council and represent collective nouns for groups of trees which are found around Tackley and the Heyford’s.
Children are divided into four houses: Heath, Copse, Spinney and Grove.
Any member of staff can award House Points to any child, at any time and for any reason if they are demonstrating the Tackley Values. These are humility, honesty, perseverance, forgiveness, respect and responsibility. Children can also be awarded house points for representing their house or school, effort, achievement, good attitude or by demonstrating good manners.
There are opportunities for houses to compete against each other or work on projects as a team over the course of the year, culminating in Sports Day. Children are encouraged on these events to wear team colours which are: Heath (red), Copse (yellow), Spinney (green) and Grove (blue).
House Captains are appointed from Year 6. Each Friday, house points earned by each house are collected and the results shared in our Celebration Assembly. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the School Cup.
The expectation is that children will be loyal to their House and try their best to earn points for their house by displaying good behaviour and attitudes and by demonstrating our values.
